Lumens Money is operated by Lumens Money (Pty) Ltd, incorporated in South Africa (Registration No. pending CIPC). Ghana operations are conducted through Lumens GH Ltd, incorporated at the Registrar General's Department, Accra, Ghana. Both entities share the same beneficial ownership structure.
Lumens Technologies (Pty) Ltd is in the process of registering as a Payment Service Provider (PSP) with the Financial Sector Conduct Authority (FSCA) under the Financial Sector Regulation Act 9 of 2017. Lumens is registered with the Financial Intelligence Centre (FIC) as an accountable institution under the FIC Act 38 of 2001. Cross-border services operate under SARB cross-border payment frameworks. Full POPIA compliance is maintained.
Lumens Labs GH Ltd is registered as a Virtual Asset Service Provider (VASP) with the Bank of Ghana (BoG) under the Payment Systems and Services Act 2019 (Act 987). PSP Medium licence application is in progress with the BoG. Data Protection Commission registration under Act 843 is completed. FIC Ghana AML/CFT registration is in progress.
Lumens Money benefits from the bilateral fintech licence passporting agreement between the Bank of Ghana (BoG) and the National Bank of Rwanda (BNR), signed 25 February 2025. Upon grant of the Ghana PSP licence, Lumens is entitled to extend operations to Rwanda under BNR notification procedures, without a full separate licence application.

Lumens Money is not a bank or deposit-taking institution. Lumens does not accept deposits within the meaning of the Banks Act 94 of 1990 (SA) or the Banks and Specialised Deposit-Taking Institutions Act 2023 (Ghana). ZAR digital wallet balances are not bank deposits and are not covered by SADIC deposit insurance unless explicitly stated in a separate agreement.
Lumens Money maintains a Board-approved AML/CFT policy, reviewed annually. Transaction monitoring is performed in real-time using rule-based and ML-assisted screening. Suspicious Transaction Reports (STRs) are filed with the FIC (SA) and FIC Ghana as required. Lumens screens all users against OFAC SDN, UN Consolidated, SARB, BoG, and EU sanctions lists at onboarding and on an ongoing basis.
The Lumens Money name, logo, branding, app interface, and proprietary technology are the exclusive intellectual property of Lumens Money (Pty) Ltd and Lumens GH Ltd. Unauthorized reproduction or use is prohibited.
Disputes from SA users: arbitration under AFSA Arbitration Rules, seated in Johannesburg. Ghana users: escalation to the BoG Consumer Protection Unit at the Bank of Ghana. Rwanda users: escalation to the National Bank of Rwanda consumer complaints framework.
